Run, Bart, Run

Holla to my finger
I painted Bart Simpson as the baby on the Nirvana album today. I started out using watercolor paint but it looked sucky so I used those oil paints. I died. Oil paint is such a pain, it still hasn't dried. I'm no expert so I don't know if it will. AKML. This Bart painting left smudges on my baby taco drawing :(

My day was actually pretty boring. I only painted, watched Mr. Holland's Opus -really good movie, btw- and tried a work out plan I found on tumblr.

said work out plan

I only got to the 70 leg lifts and my legs feel like jelly right now. I actually watched the last part of Mr. Holland's Opus while doing the 100 jumping jacks and it must've been a funny sight; me crying while jumping jacks-ing. I couldn't help it though; the movie was so touching. Yes, I used the word touching. I was sort of putting off the running part cos I wasn't in the mood to go out of the house. I only found out why my mum was pressuring me to jog this evening. It's cos today's Friday, Friday, gotta get down on Friday. We have a run on Saturday, bloody Saturday.

I am going to run on Saturday at Alabang HILLS FOR 5 KILOMETERS. I hope I don't pass out. Or die.

Sleeping All Day, Staying Up All Night

Today, or rather yesterday, was spent sleeping. Seriously! I stayed up all night last Monday that I finally went to sleep at around 5 in the morning. I woke up at 10 am because it was simply too hot. The humidity all day was really annoying, so after we had our lunch, my sister and I spent the day inside the room with the aircon on full blast. That's why, I ended up falling asleep from 2 to 5! I woke up to the shrill ringing of the telephone and after taking a shower, checking my facebook account, going to 9gag and doing some reading, I took a nap. At around 8 in the evening, my parents arrived from work, we had our dinner, mum and dad talked to me about college and while my mum was reading and my dad was watching tv, I started googling pictures of kids in weird halloween costumes when I came across a baby in a taco costume!

I just had to draw the adorrrrrable baby!

Seeing kids in silly halloween costumes is so fun. It's a combination of the cutest things in the world (kids) and stuff that I find interesting (costumes), it's just so darn perfect! Here are some of the best costumes I've seen.

This kid as Edward Scissorhands even has the pout down pat!

Hermits Are ♥

When I woke up this morning, I was surprised to see that we had a visitor. I greeted her with my messy messy bed hair and rushed towards the bathroom. So, in my timidness, I spent my day upstairs, inside my parents' room. I'm glad to say that I accomplished a lot and my hermit tendencies made me somewhat productive. Yay!

- I finished reading Beastly! I seriously thought it'd be darker and more sinister but nonetheless it was a good, light read; perfect for a day with nothing to do!
- I got our scanner and finally scanned my sketches. I fixed and colored them and made a header for my friend's lovely lovely blog! The backgrounds are from this seriously wicked article.

Check out her totally boy-crazy blog!
Hand drawing

- I helped my sister with tying knots and inserting thread through the needle. She's making a skirt. I felt like Martha Stewart Jr.
- I watched Weird Science (1985).

Dear Lord
You just gotta love Wyatt in Lisa's underwear!

- I listened to Karmin's cover of Look At Me Now the whole day. I seriously love them; they're the best musical duo in youtube in my opinion and the fact that they're so playful in their videos makes them just downright adorable!

That's how I spent my Monday. I'm on my summer vacation and I haven't been to the beach! Not that I'm a total albino cos of the lack of exposure to the sun, I have our farewell party last March to thank for that. I will never ever ever ever ever ever ever go swimming at 1 in the afternoon without putting on sunblock!

March 26, 2011. Look at us soaking up the sun
(l-r) Me, Casey, Angel and the guy that keeps popping up is Robin.
It's been such a weird day and it's only the beginning of the week! Who knew being locked up in a room could be so fun?

Anthem For American Teenagers

I have Jon McLaughlin's entire Indiana album on repeat right now and it's just the perfect music to a Sunday night. His voice is just so boyish and nice! Just listening to him makes me think of every inspiring and tear-jerking redemption scene from chick flicks and romantic comedies and that's why I think he's such an amazing musician. You should really listen to Jon if you're feeling insecure and depressed 'cause his voice would just take you, hug you tight, pat your back, kiss you on the temple and let you sleep curled next to him with your head on his chest. Talk about the epitome of feel good music!

I first found out about him while watching Disney's Enchanted. Hands down, Enchanted is my favorite Disney movie. That part during the ball, with all of them prettied up and donning those ridiculously adorable costumes? I wondered how they'd make Patrick Dempsey maintain his McDreamy-ness and thats when Jon's voice came in to the rescue. Seriously, So Close,  was just the most magical song I've heard that time.

I get the same vibe from Gavin DeGraw. I can't remember exactly when I first heard his songs but I'm sure it was mainly because of One Tree Hill. I recall hearing More Than Anyone playing during Haley and Nathan's super sweet wedding.

Both of them are just total dreamboats with their voices and to be honest, they're totally easy on the eyes too.

Happy Birthday Drina!

A good friend of mine's celebrating her birthday today. Yay! Happy Birthday, Drina! You seriously have the best taste in music out of everyone I know. I fookin lov yah hehe.

Clean Zombie, Bad Zombie

I tried coloring my drawing with GIMP today. I still don't know how to add the blood splatters on my zombie's face so it looks weird right now. His wounds are clean, not a drop of blood. It looks like it cleaned itself up for a date or something. It's quite unnerving. I wonder if this is how zombies'll look like if they were more civilized.

Maundy Thursday

Since I'm too busy sitting on my journal to let the papers that I glued on to stick firmly, I'll just write a short summary of what went on yesterday:

1) We had our annual Visita Iglesia. We went to 7 churches and when we got to the 6th one, we managed to photobomb a group of people taking pictures outside the church, in front of the doors with the stained-glass artwork.

2) Ate lunch at Chow King because I thought they had a special Lent menu but I was wrong hahah.

3) Went to the new house and dear Lord, it was starting to look like the architect's designs! We spent at least 2 hours there, checking things out while my mum and sister pulled out their HPs and read.

4) We stopped by the marble selling place in Sucat (I think). Killed time while drawing, sitting in the car, watching my sister read, and kicking ass (and also getting my butt kicked) in Tilt To Live.

5) Checked if there was a copy of HP6 at National Bookstore near Shopwise. They didn't have any :( and after checking if the Puregold branch had it on stock (nada), we decided to order one! My mum went grocery shopping, my dad went to the appliance section while my sister and I browsed through the books.

6) Bought a new toothbrush at Shopwise!!! ♥♥♥

7) We got home around 7:30 and there were boxes everywhere. Our maid told our mum that she found this unused skeleton costume upstairs and I got so giddy when I saw it that I. Tried. It. On. It was tight as hell!

This is quite embarrassing
All in all, a lovely Maundy Thursday spent!

Paper Towns by John Green

Quentin Jacobsen has spent a lifetime loving the magnificently adventurous Margo Roth Spiegelman from afar. So when she cracks open a window and climbs back into his life - dressed like a ninja and summoning him for an ingenious campaign of revenge - he follows.

After their all-nighter ends and a new day breaks, Q arrives at school to discover that Margo, always an enigma, has now become a mystery. But Q soon learns that there are clues - and they’re for him. Urged down a disconnected path, the closer he gets, the less Q sees of the girl he thought he knew.
Printz medalist John Green returns with the brilliant wit and searing emotional honesty that have inspired a new generation of listeners.

I just finished reading Paper Towns by John Green and I am not entirely sure if I'm correct but it seems to me that Looking for Alaska, An Abundance of Katherines and Paper Towns have something in common. The narrators. Every narrator in his books are normal guys that are so...nice. They're kind-hearted and so lovable that seeing the story unfold through their eyes make the tragic events look painful, yes, but also like genuine eye openers. I started around 2 in the afternoon because the other book that I tried to read turned out to be a huge letdown.I read Aaron Vincent's (my favorite book blogger) review on Paper Towns and he basically described the out-of-this-worldy beauty that it possessed and if I recall correctly he even listed Margo Roth Spiegelman as one of his top 10 fictional characters of all time. Now, I don't exactly know how to feel because I found Margo a tad annoying and simply too flighty. The other characters were so diverse and so John Green and I think that's what I like most about him, besides him being so adorably geeky, the way he creates these totally random characters that had specific randomly specific hobbies, interests and quirks. I was sort of terrified while reading it, and I guess it's because I'm still in some sort of a hangover after reading Looking for Alaska and it made me subconsciously trying to prepare for the blow of a character's death or something equally as devastating.

It still makes my head spin thinking about how all of these ideas came from a single person. How does John Green do it? How does he take interesting facts that he read when he was still a kid and turn it into something that touched lots of people, even people from all the way on the other side of the world?

I'm looking at the cover of the book right now, particularly on the blurb by the SLJ saying that Paper Towns is 'profoundly moving'. I may have mixed feelings about the catalyst of all the adventures that took place in the entire book but I just cannot deny that Paper Towns in fact is a book so good that I can't name it as my favorite book. It's a book so good that it deserves a whole new category for itself and John Green deserves all the books about conjoined twins in the world or maybe a cake. A delicious, mouthgasm-inducing cake, mind you.

Weekend Warriors

I woke up at 4:30am for a run in Alabang with my mum and dad. It was my first time this summer vacation of waking up before noon. It was good, after the run, we ate at this small diner near the market and to be honest, I was surprised that the food was delicious. Before heading home, we made a detour at our new house to check out the development of the renovation.

Around 6:30 in the evening, we went to Resorts World to watch KAOS. We arrived at Resorts World and ate at Johnny Chow. Johnny Chow is such a cute place by the way. The waitresses wear vibrant colored wigs, short dresses, knee-high socks over black wedge booties. We also spotted Janice de Belen at Johnny Chow.

We only scored seats on the third row and it was, for a lack of a better term, spectacular! It was so cool cos we were so close to the stage that my mum could tell whether the European dancers were wearing skin tone stockings or not haha. Cameras and camcorders weren't allowed inside so there really was no way to document the play/musical. But it reaaaally was worth the hype!

(c) ticketworld.ph
The international cast was what made it super nice. There were the European dancers that donned the most fabulous costumes I've ever seen. My favorite was the sailboat (?)/ pirate ship costume which you can see on the lower left of the lower left picture above! There were the Chinese gymnasts, the Power Duo from Belarus, the Human Time Machine from Columbia, the Spanish and Brazilian motorcyclists in the Cycle of Life, the Manila Symphony Orchestra, the Filipino singers, the Philippine All-Stars and the lead actors -Martha Joy, Joel Trinidad, Jemuel Victorino and Gian Magdangal. I sound like such and endorser. Oh, if you want to take a picture with Sito the white tiger you gotta spend a lot of cash. 600 for a single picture with a white tiger!

I've been awake for almost 20(?) hours now and I gotta go to sleep because we'll be hearing mass in a church in Tagaytay for Palm Sunday tomorrow. Good night!

Zombies Everywhere

I had an itch to draw something tonight so I went to weheartit to look for anything that might be interesting and slightly difficult to draw. I was looking at pale skinny girls in nice clothes at a forest when I thought of looking up zombies. You see, I absolutely love zombies! I had a zombiegasm (it sounds gross haha) because of all the pictures that I settled on one handsome looking zombie and I drew him. I had a lot of fun with all the lines on his face and with messing up his teeth haha.

His eyebrows remind me of Reina of ANTM so much haha

Here's a bunch of inspirational (?) zombie pictures for you! I can't seem to stop spreading the zombie luvin'.

Happy Birthday Mum!

It's my mum's birthday today!

My sister and I went to the mall to kill time while waiting for the dinner with our relatives. We went to the newly opened Forever 21 branch in Makati! Unfortunately, every Powerbooks and National Bookstore in Glorietta and Greenbelt didn't have any Harry Potter 6 on stock :( So, by the time we were at National Bookstore in Glorietta 5 (Our second to the last book store stop for the day), I was losing hope and I was right, they didn't have any. I ended up choosing between buying the fourth installment of the Mortal Instruments series which is City of Fallen Angels by Cassandra Clare, the newly published Across the Universe by Beth Revis, or the last book in the The Giver trilogy, Messenger by Lois Lowry.

I ended up buying City of Fallen Angels! Yay. I'm on page 63 right now and I'm absolutely loving it.

Bookgasm

Last night, I decided to make a stop motion video with the books I found under my parents' bed. I also downloaded the soundtrack from (500) Days of Summer just for the 14 second background music of this video. Enjoy!

The DigiTour

As I said in my previous post, I have been on a drummers-on-youtube-luvin' spree. Last April 7, I stumbled upon RickyFicarelli's drum cover of Like A G6. I was drawn to his video because he looked like Niek474 (my first drumming crush heehee). So, I watched it, and (surprise, surprise!)I got hooked. I subscribed to him and checked out his profile if he had an official facebook fan page. Not only did I find the facebook link, I also saw an announcement of him going on tour with other famous youtube people. I'm also a fan of Dave Days and Mystery Guitar Man so when I saw their names, I tried to find out every detail about the DigiTour and I found this video which pretty much explains everything.

They won't be visiting the Philippines any time soon. Surprise, surprise! Accio DigiTour people HAHA

Doo-Wops & Hooligans

Last night, my sister and I went and saw Bruno Mars live at the Araneta Coliseum.
Before we lined up at the entrance to the stadium, we went to National Bookstore Cubao. It was the biggest bookstore I've ever been to. I died. We bought a total of 7 books. 6 of them were on sale and cost only P75 below haha. Talk about bargain! It was a long time before the guards let us in so we sat down and I browsed through the Polaroid book that I bought.

We had a lot of fun especially with the tiny binoculars that we bought. I even spotted my best friend Mikee who was there with her sisters at the other side of the stadium.

It was amazing and Michael Copon WAS SO HOT EVERYONE'S OVARIES EXPLODED. He was a bit off key but he made up for it by being so ridiculously goooood looking. I couldn't take a picture of him because 1) we were too far and 2) I was too busy screaming and dying with every smile he flashed haha.

Cotton candy mustaches and double jointed fingers!

The best part of the night was when Bruno Mars humped the air. Yes, he did the pelvic thrust. We died.

After his last song (Just The Way You Are), he went backstage already and the crowd was not leaving. We were shouting that we wanted more. I thought it was a lost cause but then his band members went out and he did too! He sang Runaway Baby then he said goodbye for real haha

We ate at Taco Bell afterwards

It was a long walk from the coliseum to the parking lot :(
