John Green Appreciation Post Version 2.0

I've always been a huge fan of John Green and his works. Most of the time, when I'd finish his book, I would either feel very good about life like I just received a cheat code or hack that would help me see the world through brand new eyes or I would just be reduced to a snotty crying mess.

The reason why I'm going on another John Green appreciating post is that I just finished his latest book, The Fault In Our Stars. I won't even try to write a review of it since it's simply beyond writing one. I'm at a loss for words but I have this feeling that I should tell the world of its beauty. The book is just beautiful. I mean, that's it, it's the kind of beautiful that is so sad but at the same time it makes you feel like you're the kind of person that doesn't eat weird/exotic food and then one day you'd have the courage to do so and it's like a whole new chapter or level has been unlocked in your life and it makes you eager to get get get get get more and think of what you have been missing all this time.

I've never been a witness to funny or ironic captchas before so I was quite surprised when I saw this.

It says rephaw but I swear when I first saw it, I thought it said RHAPAW. As in the nickname used by Q for an old vehicle in John Green's amazing book, Paper Towns. RHAPAW is an acronym for Rode Hard And Put Away Wet. Yes, you have now officially started recognizing John Green's awesomeness.* DFTBA!

*By the way, my sister just started  reading Looking For Alaska. So happy for her!

Since we only got our internet connection fixed, the whole week was spent trying not to sweat, reading, running and drawing lovely lovely shoes.

HOORAY 4 TODAY

We went to our new house today. Yay! My sister and I arranged her shoes in her new fancy schmancy shoe closet, which if I were her, would've resulted to a ridiculous shoegasm buttttttttttttttt I'm not her. Plus, she's much more composed than I am, who has bookgasms left and right AND CENTER. While we were there I lapsed into my zen self again and I practically begged my sister for us to stay a bit longer since I wanted to enjoy the peace, quiet and the absence of modern technology. Zennnnnnn bruthas. (I ended up drawing my typewriter while my sister read in front of the exhaust fan) Anyhoo, I just want to share that I am oh so happy because

1. My sister and I have become ultra close this week HOORAY 4 THAT
2. We watched Thor and well, HOORAY 4 THAT because Chris Hemsworth was just downright delectable. And the fact that Natalie Portman was in it made it 578549784x better!
3. I saw copieS of Will Grayson, Will Grayson by John Green and David Levithan at the bookstore in the mall where we watched Thor. No, I did not buy it but
4. I bought a pen. A lovely lovely pen that makes me feel like this guy.
5. After my mum delivered the horrible news that there aren't any copies of Harry Potter 6 on stock nationwide, I died. And while I was already making plans of buying a copy from my sexy beast of a friend Drina -who needs your help in order to snag a ticket for the Maroon 5 concert, my sister notified me, yes, notified, that she already borrowed from her friend. HOORAY 4 THAT.
6. We got the book yesterday, that's why we were at the mall in the first place HOORAY 4 THAT.
7. I just watched No Strings Attached and this is making My List of Movies That Have High Ratings in IMDB and Star My Favorite Celebrities very very happy. I promise will post said list as soon as possible!
8. I also watched When Harry Met Sally... today!
9. I got to download Perfect Chemistry by Simon Elkeles online.
10. Last thing that I can think of that made me happy today is Jenna Marbles and Hugo Chakrabongse. I combined them into one number cos they'd look cute as a couple..and cos I didn't want my list to have 11 items hehe

Hugo Chakrabongse's cover of 99 Problems is definitely worth listening/watching. Seriously!

Paper Towns by John Green

I just finished reading Paper Towns by John Green and I am not entirely sure if I'm correct but it seems to me that Looking for Alaska, An Abundance of Katherines and Paper Towns have something in common. The narrators. Every narrator in his books are normal guys that are so...nice. They're kind-hearted and so lovable that seeing the story unfold through their eyes make the tragic events look painful, yes, but also like genuine eye openers. I started around 2 in the afternoon because the other book that I tried to read turned out to be a huge letdown.I read Aaron Vincent's (my favorite book blogger) review on Paper Towns and he basically described the out-of-this-worldy beauty that it possessed and if I recall correctly he even listed Margo Roth Spiegelman as one of his top 10 fictional characters of all time. Now, I don't exactly know how to feel because I found Margo a tad annoying and simply too flighty. The other characters were so diverse and so John Green and I think that's what I like most about him, besides him being so adorably geeky, the way he creates these totally random characters that had specific randomly specific hobbies, interests and quirks. I was sort of terrified while reading it, and I guess it's because I'm still in some sort of a hangover after reading Looking for Alaska and it made me subconsciously trying to prepare for the blow of a character's death or something equally as devastating.

It still makes my head spin thinking about how all of these ideas came from a single person. How does John Green do it? How does he take interesting facts that he read when he was still a kid and turn it into something that touched lots of people, even people from all the way on the other side of the world?

I'm looking at the cover of the book right now, particularly on the blurb by the SLJ saying that Paper Towns is 'profoundly moving'. I may have mixed feelings about the catalyst of all the adventures that took place in the entire book but I just cannot deny that Paper Towns in fact is a book so good that I can't name it as my favorite book. It's a book so good that it deserves a whole new category for itself and John Green deserves all the books about conjoined twins in the world or maybe a cake. A delicious, mouthgasm-inducing cake, mind you.
