20 Questions

The CineFilipino was quite successful! We spent the half day we were required to be in school cooped up in the little theatre just watching the films made by the participants. Our entry, 20 Questions, won the following awards:
-Best Screenplay
-Best Actress

Jigs and Yumi keepin it real

Lawrence as Jigs, Twinkle as our Golden director and me as Yumi hehe it rhymed
Working on this movie was such a weird experience. We all thought that the submissions for the film was on the 14th but it turned out to be a week earlier and with only one scene shot (Prom scene) and dozen other scenes still left to shoot, we 1) praised the gods that March 5 was declared a half-day for us 2) went to my house the afternoon of March 5 and shot scenes til the evening 3) Jazz, Twinkle, Nona, Maqui and I had a slumber party and shot the abortion scenes annnnnnnnd 4) finished everything the next day, March 6!

It was such a tiring yet fulfilling escapade!! Lawrence was a very good sport and his chinky eyes were really made to be called bedroom eyes cos they always looked sleepy HEHE joke. If it weren't for Lawrence, I'm sure we would've dozed off already and some of the comedic scenes in the film would not be here today if it weren't for him and his offbeat humor hehe. And most importantly, this would've been a crappy film if it wasn't for Twinkle's skills and talent and overall taray-ness!! Our director/camerawoman/editor/acting coach is seriously a gold mine and I'm sure she'll make a name for herself in the future :D :D

We wouldn't have had the amazing opportunity to work on the film if it weren't for the Filipino department and their idea of a film festival. Our deepest gratitude to the people of III-Calvin, Diego, Ms. Fuentes, Mang Eli and his supply of Cobra and last but not the least, Mr. Juan Ekis for his wonderful wonderful wonderful one-act play, 20 Questions!

For those of you who were not able to catch it (I understand since it WAS the first film to be played huhu), here's 20 Questions ni Juan Ekis.

20 Questions ni Juan Ekis

For our last hurrah in Filipino we were asked to participate in the Filipino Film Festival in school. We were to choose a piece of literature be it a poem or a story or a novel in Tagalog or English and make a film adaptation of it. We chose 20 Questions by Juan Ekis, a Palanca award-winning screenplay that I fell in like with after Chloe made me read it some time last year.

The films will be shown in school next week and I hope ours gets the green light from the department regardless of the themes in it hehe. Since I suck at summarizing without giving away too much, I have the 2 teaser trailers that we have to entice you and excite you guys and encourage you to watch our film on the 14th of March!

Please watch '20 Questions' and the other films that us students slaved over for hehehe.

Here's a video we made while making the movie hehe. Maqui and the girls slept over and it was so fun and so noisy and Maqui is so nice huhu. We stayed up late learning how to dance, looking up Filipino surnames, watching the gory parts of Saw, watching chick flicks and laughing huhu. I'm glad projects can make us bond and make memories huhuuhuhuhu.

Warm Bodies

A zombie who yearns for a better life ends up falling in love—with a human—in this astonishingly original debut novel.

R is a zombie. He has no memories, no identity, and no pulse, but he has dreams. He doesn’t enjoy killing people; he enjoys riding escalators and listening to Frank Sinatra. He is a little different from his fellow Dead.

Not just another zombie novel, Warm Bodies is funny, scary, and deeply moving.

I first heard about Warm Bodies the book while browsing through zombie literature in Goodreads. I remember adding it to my To-Read list because the plot seemed new and very original hehe. I never got the chance and I never bothered to look for the it since it got drowned by my other, more prominent, book cravings.

So I was quite excited when news that it'd be turned into a movie were spread. I got even more excited when I found out Nick Hoult would play the lead hihihi. But then I got submerged in school activities and responsibilities that I missed the first weeks of its premiere here in the Philippines.

But alas, after our failed attempt to watch it yesterday since it was late already, my sister and I rushed to the mall right after lunch and finally got to see Warm Bodies wee.

WARM BODIES IS AN AMAZING MOVIE HUHU. It made me love zombies even more, if that's possible. I liked their take on what can cure and stop the apocalypse which is love and human interaction. It might be a bit cheesy but the message is so strong and it can be applied even in circumstances that don't involve flesh-eating creatures. It was so nice!!! The acting was so good too. Nick Hoult and his best friend were so adorable and I liked his internal monologues hehe. It was so funny too whenever he'd run and still stay in character, he looked like a very tall and very lanky rag doll. The way the story was woven and was fit in a span of 98 minutes was amazing. Huhu I can't even organize my thoughts properly since my brain keeps on repeating 'it was so nice it was so nice it was so nice it was so nice it was so nice'.

But while watching, I kept thinking that if an actual zombie outbreak were to take place and a lot of people have seen this film and it turns out the real cure is not affection........we'd have a huge problem on our hands hehehehe.

Over all, the movie was great and it's now a favorite of mine. It really was love at first bite hehe. My funny bone was tickled, I felt the tension and I was moved by the ending. We should have more zombie movies like Warm Bodies :D

TheRapist

Jazz and I went to Robinsons after class. We dawdled a bit inside Book Sale and we were about to buy books when we decided to check out first if the cinemas were showing anything that we liked. We saw that The Campaign was on, Katy Perry's Part of Me 3D as well, Expendables 2, Total Recall and *drum roll please* Amorosa!

On a whim, we bought tickets for the 1pm show and we had to hurry since it was already a quarter past 1 hehe. Once inside, we were greeted by a near empty movie house HUHU. There was only 1 couple by the middle and this old lady who scared the living daylights out of me sitting all by herself at the far left corner of the place. We situated ourselves near the couple but once the guy started sending us semi-hate glares for intruding their lovefest, we moved over and placed ourselves a seat apart from the old lady. She kept chuckling at our jumpy movements HAHA.

We eventually moved to the deluxe part meaning the upper portion of the cinema after there was a tiny funny part in the movie and we heard laughter from upstairs. We gave ourselves the creeps while climbing the dark staircase hehe and when we reached the top, we somehow disturbed yet another couple. We sat behind this group of friends and all was well.

Contemplating whether or not it's time for me to get a hair cut
I'm starting to feel nationalistic hehe. After seeing Zombadings, my eyes have been opened to the beauty of Philippine films. Amorosa was such a.................creamy movie. I really appreciated the colors and the ~angles and the actors. I now admire Enrique Gil and his brother in the movie whom I failed to remember the name of. They were so good, especially Angel Aquino who is still so very pretty. The movie was really nice; I got really scared at some parts.

Lesson I learned from Amorosa tho, love your family yadda and don't ever be a rapist. Be a therapist not TheRapist.

The movie gave off such a Rocky Horror -esque vibe
When this movie first came out (of the closet?) a year ago, I itched to go see it. But due to reasons unknown, I never had the chance to catch it in the cinemas. The poster just had me falling in love at first sight! I really like the colors and the fact that they made it seem like one of those old Tagalog hand painted movie posters is definitely a plus. And it's about zombies, need I say more?

I only went to ruins yesterday to accompany my sister and to go look for Magic Mike. Since Magic Mike is still not yet dvd copy, I decided to buy any gross horror movie instead. I was browsing through the dvds when Ang Babae sa Septic Tank caught my eye. All I know is that it's an indie film and that it has won awards. Thinking about semi-old indie films, Zombadings came to my mind. I asked the girl if they had it and she said yes while trying to hold in her laughter. I asked her if it's any good and she said yeah (quite reluctantly). I asked her again, 'Baduy ba?' and.....................she nodded minutely. I still bought it tho to quench my curiosity and after cancelled plans, watched it today yay.

The movie was so adorable!!!!!! It was so funny too! The first thing that came to my mind was the quality. The movie was so rich and so creamy and just downright pretty. I am a total sucker when pretty is mixed with gore hehe. Anyhoo, I definitely enjoyed watching it even though there were parts when the Bekimon got a bit too confusing hahaha but keribels. There were some scenes that had me squealing in uneasiness hehe but I'd end up laughing still. The actors were good and the message was SO THERE.

Zombadings: Patayin sa Shokot si Remington is such a nice/funny/cute/good movie. I really don't know why the girl who sold it to me called it baduy hehehe.

Hey by the way, does anybody know if THIS still applies? Hehe.

Adventures of Future Dwellers

Cheesecake date yesterday! We've been planning on seeing Dark Shadows for quite some time now and we finally saw it today. After hours of planning, scheming and lying in a pool of our sweat, we finally headed to the mall. We picked out the 4pm screening since it was the most available, Nath was in such a hurry he didnt see that we still had half an hour to kill that he already bought the snacks for us hahaha. We almost finished the popcorn while we were still watching the movie trailers!

I won't say much as to not spoil it to those who still wanna go see it. All I can say is Dark Shadows is a pretty movie.

After the movie, we ate omnomnomnom, made fools of ourselves inside an arcade, made even bigger fools of ourselves inside Toy Kingdom and went to 2 bookstores. We arrived at my house at around 730 and ate dinner with my sister and my nephew. After eating, we played and played cards in our living room while waiting for my dad to finish watching American Idol so he could drive Chloe home haha.

Chloe

Im seriously digging Nath's ultra faded shoes! It used to be blue but now the blue is slowly fading until the front part is gray already hehe. Can't be seen in this shot tho

Nath

Seriously can't get over Nath's ombre shoes hahahahaha

'Nath's photography skillzzzzz'

I bought this at Book Sale for only P35!

From vampires to witches to werewolves to zombies to ghouls to Nath to Chloe, this day had an abundance of monsters...................hahaha joke. Before I end this, here are a few websites to inspire you to watch Dark Shadow or to kill me:

Chronicle

Chronicle revolves around 3 average and slightly stereotypical teenage boys. One's the popular guy which everyone likes, a weirdo with a camera who gets bullied and the wallflower-ish stoner. At a party, they discover a mysterious hole and after exploring said hole, develop supernatural powers. They have fun and fool around with people and learn how to strengthen their powers. One of them a bit too strong tho..

I enjoy trailer surfing on youtube. Basically, I watch and watch trailers of upcoming movies and just navigate through the related videos sidebar. I came across Chronicle some time ago and I was intrigued for realsies. My sister and I watched it while we were at our grandparents' house in the province. I really liked the whole Cloverfield-esque vibe it gave off because of the camcorder thingy style. The movie as a whole was good since the characters were so realistic, the scenarios were quite adorable and the plot was very strong. It only sucks cos the run time is so short! It would've been nicer if the events didnt happen so quickly and all at once. But all in all, I seriously liked Chronicle. Boyish playfulness + superhero powers + 3 good looking teenage boys + a whole lot of action = Chronicle!

*I won't link the trailer anymore since its like the whole movie's in it haha!

Magic Mike

I just found out about Channing Tatum's upcoming movie called Magic Mike. It's supposedly about a guy stripper named Mike which is to be played by Channing. He then takes Alex Pettyfer as his apprentice of some sort. Alex introduces him to his sister who has no idea about their profession. Channing then slowly falls in gooey love with the sister and they have to overcome the challengers that comes with being in a relationship with someone who has 'relationships' with everybody else hehe.

Personally, I have no plans of becoming a stripper. I don't think I have it in me to be one actually. I just find this movie cool since Channing once was a stripper in real life before becoming an actor. So its sort of like he's going back to his roots so to say. Judging by the comments that I've seen on youtube about the trailer, it seems that many people find this movie to be very shallow and disgusting. Well, I really don't have anything to say about it that much since even I find it shallow. But the thing is, I believe that every once in a while, I really really really need a break from all the thought provoking movies and books. It gets tiring to have your beliefs shaken.

In conclusion, I want to see this movie. I really do hehe. Partly because of Channing, partly because of Alex Pettyfer, partly because I think it's gonna be funny and partly because well I'm a very pubertial teenager.

Cheesecake Day

Last Saturday, Nath and Chloe went to my house for a 'cheesecake date'. We actually planned on going to different places via tricycle but since we were short on cash and we only had a few hours, we just decided to go to ruins and, buy dvds. Before we went home, we stopped at a nearby grocery store in hopes that they sell Magnum. Lo and behold, they had none. We bought a couple of movie snacks though to appease our tummehhhs.

We watched The Woman in Black and although we got creeped out and scared by the movie, we couldn't stop ourselves from cracking Harry Potter jokes. Hehe I know so mature.

Chloe

Me for president!!!!

What is abundance of union jacks hahah

Obligatory cheesecake picture oyea

Chloe told me to pose with my 'grammys'

Even though sophomore year's over and summer's here, I'll be seeing more of these guys!

HOORAY 4 TODAY

We went to our new house today. Yay! My sister and I arranged her shoes in her new fancy schmancy shoe closet, which if I were her, would've resulted to a ridiculous shoegasm buttttttttttttttt I'm not her. Plus, she's much more composed than I am, who has bookgasms left and right AND CENTER. While we were there I lapsed into my zen self again and I practically begged my sister for us to stay a bit longer since I wanted to enjoy the peace, quiet and the absence of modern technology. Zennnnnnn bruthas. (I ended up drawing my typewriter while my sister read in front of the exhaust fan) Anyhoo, I just want to share that I am oh so happy because

1. My sister and I have become ultra close this week HOORAY 4 THAT
2. We watched Thor and well, HOORAY 4 THAT because Chris Hemsworth was just downright delectable. And the fact that Natalie Portman was in it made it 578549784x better!
3. I saw copieS of Will Grayson, Will Grayson by John Green and David Levithan at the bookstore in the mall where we watched Thor. No, I did not buy it but
4. I bought a pen. A lovely lovely pen that makes me feel like this guy.
5. After my mum delivered the horrible news that there aren't any copies of Harry Potter 6 on stock nationwide, I died. And while I was already making plans of buying a copy from my sexy beast of a friend Drina -who needs your help in order to snag a ticket for the Maroon 5 concert, my sister notified me, yes, notified, that she already borrowed from her friend. HOORAY 4 THAT.
6. We got the book yesterday, that's why we were at the mall in the first place HOORAY 4 THAT.
7. I just watched No Strings Attached and this is making My List of Movies That Have High Ratings in IMDB and Star My Favorite Celebrities very very happy. I promise will post said list as soon as possible!
8. I also watched When Harry Met Sally... today!
9. I got to download Perfect Chemistry by Simon Elkeles online.
10. Last thing that I can think of that made me happy today is Jenna Marbles and Hugo Chakrabongse. I combined them into one number cos they'd look cute as a couple..and cos I didn't want my list to have 11 items hehe

Hugo Chakrabongse's cover of 99 Problems is definitely worth listening/watching. Seriously!

Run, Bart, Run

Holla to my finger
I painted Bart Simpson as the baby on the Nirvana album today. I started out using watercolor paint but it looked sucky so I used those oil paints. I died. Oil paint is such a pain, it still hasn't dried. I'm no expert so I don't know if it will. AKML. This Bart painting left smudges on my baby taco drawing :(

My day was actually pretty boring. I only painted, watched Mr. Holland's Opus -really good movie, btw- and tried a work out plan I found on tumblr.

said work out plan

I only got to the 70 leg lifts and my legs feel like jelly right now. I actually watched the last part of Mr. Holland's Opus while doing the 100 jumping jacks and it must've been a funny sight; me crying while jumping jacks-ing. I couldn't help it though; the movie was so touching. Yes, I used the word touching. I was sort of putting off the running part cos I wasn't in the mood to go out of the house. I only found out why my mum was pressuring me to jog this evening. It's cos today's Friday, Friday, gotta get down on Friday. We have a run on Saturday, bloody Saturday.

I am going to run on Saturday at Alabang HILLS FOR 5 KILOMETERS. I hope I don't pass out. Or die.

I ♥ 80's Movies

Ever since I watched The Breakfast Club last year, I've been hooked on the late John Hughes' movies. I wanted so badly to buy the I ♥ 80's DVD box set as a Christmas present for myself but I ended up spending the money on books. I remember it had Pretty in Pink and 2 other movies. Oh, what I wouldn't give to live in the 80's! I went crazy the following months after watching The Breakfast Club that I started visiting the local DVD stores in malls and I even tried my luck in ruins (a year long bazaar that sells mainly dvds)where I bought Sixteen Candles and I found a link on livejournal and downloaded Ferris Bueller's Day Off.

I found the movies so funny and adorable that I started looking up movies from 80's and 90's. IMDB got raped by me so much. I ended up watching (and loving) Say Anything...(1989), She's All That (1999), Dead Poets Society (1989), Labyrinth (1986), Beetle Juice (1988)-which I have seen plenty of times when I was a kid but never understood it up until last year- and Clueless (1995). It's so weird cos almost all of these movies were made before I was born; they make me feel like I missed A LOT.

So, imagine my surprise when I saw that HBO's gonna air Pretty in Pink today! Yay. I saw it about 2 weeks ago but the problem was, it was scheduled to air at 6:45 in the morning!

I went to sleep last night even before Earth Hour which was at 8:30. And oh my gosh, I woke up today at 6:20 and I got to watch Pretty in Pink!!

Duckie ♥
I just love this screencap to death!
I was rooting for Duckie and Andie only because their clothes are so cute together haha

Molly made me cry in this scene :(
Duckie's hair! Oooh la la
